Chrysomyia

(kris'ō-mī'yă),
A genus of myiasis-producing fleshflies (family Calliphoridae) with medium-sized metallic-colored adults; includes the Old World screw worm, Chrysomyia bezziana (sometimes called Cochliomyia bezziana), which is a primary invader, comparable with Cochliomyia hominivorax, the New World screw worm fly, whereas Chrysomyia megacephala is an Old World equivalent to Cochliomyia macellaria, both being secondary or saprophytic invaders.
