A venomous colubrid snake native to sub-Saharan African, which is arboreal, diurnal and measures up to 160 cm. Only a handful of fatal human envenomations have been documented.

Importance
The venom is slow acting and contains a haemotoxin and anticoagulant. In addition to haemorrhage, the venom causes headache, nausea, sleepiness and confusion.
