MRgFUS

A treatment for uterine fibroids in which a focused ultrasonic beam is directed at the abnormal tissue, destroying it by raising its temperature. Magnetic resonance imaging is used during the procedure to monitor the course of treatment and limit damage to neighboring organs, e.g., the healthy uterus, the colon, and the bladder.
