Trom·bi·di·i·dae

(trom'bi-dī'i-dē),
A family of mites that formerly included the subfamily Trombiculinae, now raised to the family Trombiculidae (including the vectors of tsutsugamushi disease). Trombidiidae larvae are characteristically parasitic on insects, not on vertebrates as with the larvae of Trombiculidae.
