Agarose
Chemical A linear galactan obtained from purified agar which is used as a support (gel) for many types of electrophoresis and immunodiffusion; a typical gel contains ±1% agarose.Molecular biology An uncharged polysaccharide (carbohydrate polymer) purified from agar which melts when heated to 100ºC and resolidifies when cooled below about 45°C, forming a matrix, which can be used for agarose gel electrophoresis.
