Formerly widely used as an antipyretic and analgesic in rheumatism, neuritis, and common colds; may cause leukocytopenia; used to measure total body water.

Aminopyrine. A painkilling drug once widely used as an aspirin substitute but now out of favour because of the risk of inducing a sometimes fatal drop in the number of white cells in the blood (AGRANULOCYTOSIS).
