anthraquinone

 [an″thrah-kwin´ōn]
1. a derivative of anthracene, used in dye manufacture.
2. any of the usually highly colored derivatives of this compound which may be yellow, orange, red, red-brown, or violet; they occur in aloe, cascara sagrada, senna, and rhubarb and have cathartic properties.

anhracenedione

Any of a family of aromatic organic compounds which have a basic formula of C14H8O2. Anhracenedione derivatives have been formulated as laxatives, antimalarials and as antineoplastic agents.
