(Sb) [an´tĭ-mo″ne]a chemical element, atomic number 51, atomic weight 121.75. (See Appendix 6.) Several of its salts are used in tropical medicine as treatments for schistosomiasis; however, they must be used with caution because they are potentially poisonous, causing symptoms similar to those of arsenic poisoning. adj., adj antimo´�nial.
antimony potassium tartrate a compound used in treatment of schistosomiasis, especially infection with Schistosoma japonicum.
antimony sodium tartrate a compound used in treating schistosomiasis.
