APUDoma

A tumour that produces small peptide hormones of the APUD system
Examples Small (oat) cell carcinoma of lung, medullary carcinoma of thyroid, pancreatic islet cell tumour, ganglioneuroma, and carcinoids of lung, thymus, GI tract, and prostate.
Clinical findings Heterogeneous; reflects functional nature of tumour and/or metastases.
Note on terminology: APUDoma is little used in the working parlance and been replaced by “neuroendocrine tumour”.
