arteriomyomatosis

An obsolete term for a haphazardly-arranged segmental thickening of an arterial wall, with segmental overgrowth of smooth muscle cells; it is possible that what was described as arteriomyomatosis represented the segmental smooth muscle proliferation seen in atherosclerosis and/or fibromuscular hyperplasia.
