A peptide used in a screening test for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and to monitor the adequacy of supplemental pancreatic therapy.

bentiromide

A peptide (N-benzoyl-l-tyrosyl-p-aminobenzoic acid) that was transiently used to assess exocrine pancreatic function based on its digestion by chymotrypsin, which yielded p-aminobenzoic acid that was measured in urine. It was pulled from the US market in 1996.

Adverse effects
Headache, gastrointestinal complaints.
