corticosterone

 [kor″tĭ-kos´tĕ-rōn]
a steroid hormone of the adrenal cortex; it affects carbohydrate, potassium, and sodium metabolism. It is usually classified as a glucocorticoid, but it also has slight mineralocorticoid activity.
