fimbriectomy

A rarely performed type of “tubal ligation” in which the fimbriae of the fallopian tube are excised. Because the embryo contains cilia which facilitate the passage of eggs from the ovary into the fallopian tube, reversal of fimbriectomy-type sterilisation is difficult.
