[gas″tro-gas-tros´tah-me]surgical creation of an anastomosis of two previously remote portions of the stomach, such as anastomosis between the pyloric and cardiac ends of the stomach, performed for hourglass contraction of the stomach, a condition in which the organ contracts at the middle.
