1. A principal ingredient in tooth enamel. A paste containing the compound has been used experimentally to seal small enamel cavities without drilling.
2. A calcium and phosphorus supplement used to treat OSTEOPOROSIS, RICKETS, OSTEOMALACIA and to maintain body minerals during breast feeding. A brand name is Ossopan.
