α-d-ga·lac·to·sid·ase

(gă-lak'tō-sīd'ās),
An enzyme catalyzing the hydrolysis of α-d-galactosides to release free d-galactose. A deficiency of type A α-d-galactosidase is associated with Fabry disease.
