(nŭt'meg),The dried ripe seed of Myristica fragrans (family Myristicaceae), deprived of its seed coat and arillode; an aromatic stimulant, carminative, condiment, and source of volatile and expressed nutmeg oils; it is also sometimes consumed for its bizarre central nervous system effects.
