The first of the class of proton pump inhibitor drugs used to control the production of stomach acid and treat stomach and duodenal ulcers and especially the ZOLLINGER-ELLISON SYNDROME. OMEPRAZOLE can be effective in cases that have failed to respond to H-2 receptor blocker drugs such as RANITIDINE. The drug is long-acting and need only be taken once a day.
