phenylbutazone
[fen″il-bu´tah-zōn]a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug administered orally in the short-term treatment of severe rheumatoid disorders unresponsive to less toxic agents. It is given for periods of less than one week because it can cause aplastic anemia and agranulocytosis.
