propolis
(prō-pō-lĭs) [Gr. pro, before, + polis, city]A sticky resin present in the buds and bark of certain trees and plants. It is collected by bees for the purpose of repairing combs, filling cracks, and making the entrance to the hive waterproof. Propolis can be used as a topical antibacterial.
