Obsolete term for a carcinoma that contains calcified foci resembling psammoma bodies.

psammocarcinoma

(1) A rare (28 cases in the world literature), usually unilateral and low-grade serous neoplasm of post-menarche females of any age, which can arise from the peritoneum and ovaries.

Clinical findings
Present with abdominal discomfort and increasing abdominal girth.

(2) An obsolete, non-specific term for a carcinoma with abundant psammoma bodies, the most common of which are papillary carcinomas of the thyroid, ovary and pancreas, as well as mesotheliomas, bronchioalveolar carcinomas and others.
