pseu·do·tu·ber·cu·lo·sis
(sū'dō-tū-ber'kyū-lō'sis),A disease of a wide variety of animal species caused by the bacterium Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Epizootics of pseudotuberculosis are commonly seen in birds and rodents, often with high case-fatality rates. In humans, seven clinical entities are recognized: primary focalized infections (pseudoappendicitis, acute mesenteric lymphadenitis, or acute terminal ileitis), primary generalized infections (septicemia or scarlatiniform fever), and secondary immunologic phenomena (erythema nodosum or arthralgia).
