(ris'tō-sē'tin),An antibiotic produced by the fermentation of Amycolatopsis orientalis subsp. lurida, comprising two substances; ristocetin A and ristocetin B; although no longer used, it causes platelet agglutination and blood coagulation and was used to assay those functions.
