Medical term:

siderophone

siderophone

An obsolete term for a device used to detect ferruginous objects in the eye, such as the Berman metal locator. Additionally, computed tomography, the Comberg contact lens, Sweet’s geometric method and ultrasound have been used to successfully locate intraocular foreign bodies. MRI is contraindicated, however, as furruginous foreign bodies may become high-velocity intraocular projectiles in the presence of strong magnetics.
