smegma
Accumulated, cheesy-white, sebaceous gland secretions occurring under the foreskin of an uncircumcised male with poor standards of personal hygiene. Smegma becomes infected, foul-smelling and irritating and can cause local inflammation. It has been said to be CARCINOGENIC to sexual consorts but this has not been proved. Associated papillomaviruses may be the cause.Collins Dictionary of Medicine © Robert M. Youngson 2004, 2005
