streptocerciasis

 [strep″to-ser-ki´ah-sis]
infection with the nematode Dipetalonema streptocerca, seen in Central Africa. The microfilariae produce a pruritic rash resembling that of onchocerciasis; they are transmitted from animal to animal by the bite of small insects of the genus Culicoides.
