surgeon

A medical practitioner whose practice is limited to the diseases treated by surgical operation and who performs such treatment. General surgeons operate on almost all parts of the body but are now uncommon. The practice of specialist surgeons includes cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmic surgery, genitourinary surgery and ear, nose and throat surgery.
