tachyphylaxis
(tăk′ə-fĭ-lăk′sĭs)n. pl. tachyphy·laxes (-fĭ-lăk′sēz)
1. Rapid desensitization to a toxic substance produced by inoculation with a series of small doses.
2. A rapidly decreasing response to a drug following administration of the initial doses.

tachyphylaxis
A decrease in response to a drug due to prior exposure to the agent, which may be countered by increasing the dose.
