thrombocytapheresis

 [throm″bo-sīt″ah-fĕ-re´sis]
the selective separation and removal of platelets (thrombocytes) from withdrawn blood, the remainder of the blood then being retransfused into the donor. Called also plateletpheresis and thrombapheresis.
