[tri-meth´ah-fan]a short-acting ganglionic blocking agent, used as trimethaphan camsylate as an antihypertensive to produce controlled hypotension during surgery and for the emergency treatment of hypertensive crises and pulmonary edema due to hypertension; administered intravenously.
