xanthochromia
[zan″tho-kro´me-ah]yellowish discoloration of the skin or spinal fluid. Xanthochromic spinal fluid usually indicates hemorrhage into the central nervous system and is due to the presence of xanthematin, a yellow pigment derived from hematin.
