The congenital absence of one or more testes. Anorchism is the term preferred by some major medical lexicons (Stedman’s Medical Dictionary, International Dictionary of Medicine), which in the spoken form it may be misunderstood as anarchism.

anorchism

Congenital absence of testicles from the scrotum. This is usually due to undescended testicle (CRYPTORCHIDISM) but may be due to injury or infection or may occur without obvious cause, when it is sometimes called the ‘vanishing testes syndrome’. Treatment is by the use of male sex hormones or a plastic prosthetic testicle implant.
