cabergoline
A selective, potent, long-acting dopamine antagonist that suppresses prolactin secretion and restores gonadal function in women with hyperprolactinaemic amenorrhoea; it is more effective and better tolerated than bromocriptine, which must be injected 2–3 times/day, compared to 1–2 weekly for cabergoline.Adverse effects
Severe allergic reactions, chest tightness, behavioural changes (e.g., aggression, increased gambling or sexual urges, confusion, depression), hallucinations, chest pain, cough, arrhythmias, shortness of breath, unexplained weight gain, acral oedema, vision disturbances.
