[ho-mat´ro-pēn]an anticholinergic and antimuscarinic producing sympathetic blockade effects similar to but weaker than those of atropine; the hydrobromide salt is used as a mydriatic and cycloplegic and the methylbromide salt is used as an inhibitor of gastric spasm and secretion.
