the quiescent or resting phase of the hair cycle, following catagen. At this stage the hair has become a club hair and does not grow further.

The phase in the hair growth cycle during which a new hair is formed in the follicle and a hair that has stopped growing is shed. It follows and generally lasts longer than catagen.
