urography

X-ray examination of the urinary system using a CONTRAST MEDIUM to show the outline of the interior of the urinary drainage system and the bladder. The contrast medium is usually an iodine-containing solution given either by way of a vein (intravenous urography) or passed back up the URETERS using a fine tube inserted through a CYSTOSCOPE (retrograde urography).
