yawning

An involuntary and often infectious act of slow, deep inspiration accompanied by an almost uncontrollable desire to open the mouth widely. The purpose of yawning remains a matter of speculation but it stretches and opens the air sacs of the lungs and helps to improve the return of blood to the heart, reducing blood stagnation and increasing its oxygen content.
